Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa in full narrative form with a plot like a "real movie." This way of going about the Jackass antics is fantastic. The device of Johnny Knoxville in disguise as a crass older man came from necessity. The cast of Jackass is too recognizable to pull off stunts like it was able to in the past. The idea is inspired and makes for a far funnier result. The rapport between Bad Grandpa Irving and grandson Billy was actually based on the child-adult interaction in 1973's Paper Moon.
In a twist that seems written by Knoxville himself, Bad Grandpa is nominated for an Oscar for Best Make-Up and Hairstyling. That's right, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is printed on Oscar ballots. Dallas Buyers Club is heavily favored to win the category but Bad Grandpa is ranked second. Bad Grandpa is available on DVD, at Red Box and OnDemand.
