2014 Oscar Nominee Luncheon

Yesterday on Monday, February 10th, more than 150 Oscar nominees in all 24 categories gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the traditional nominee luncheon. The event is a chance for nominees to meet each other, have a shared experience and to receive their official certificates of nomination. Nominees are seated at the lunch not by category but all mixed up dinner party style. Ethan Hawke arrived with his daughter, Maya Thurman Hawke. Steve Coogan and Philomena Lee, the real inspiration for his best-picture nominee Philomena, were also in attendance. The entire category of Best Director nominees were there, Alfonso CuarĂ³n, Steve McQueen, Alexander Payne, David O Russell and Martin Scorsese. Other guests in attendance were Amy Adams, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper from American Hustle, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto of Dallas Buyers Club, Cate Blanchett of Blue Jasmine, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill of The Wolf of Wall Street, Sandra Bullock for Gravity and Nebraska stars June Squibb and Bruce Dern.

Lupita Nyong'o continued to stun and dominate the red carpet. The first time nominee said, "There's no way that I could have dreamt any of this stuff up. It's just been an incredible journey and it continues to be that. A very exciting one. A very rewarding one."

Another first time nominee, June Squibb said, "It's very exciting, I feel like I'm a part of a community. It's great fun."

Sandra Bullock said of her nominated work, "It was probably one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had. I was very familiar with Alfonso’s work; I had watched him for so many years and always longed to work with him. I trusted him 100 percent because you had the body of his work as proof...We didn’t know what we were making really and it was unknown territory."

Lupita Nyong'o complimented her print Christian Dior with earrings, purse and shoes all in the same deep violet. Cate Blanchett wore a silver Prada dress with bronze Christian Louboutins. American Hustle stars Amy Adams was in Elie Saab and Bradley Cooper wore Ralph Lauren. Sandra Bullock wore a great Stella McCartney print dress. Pharrell Williams sported one of his now infamous Vivienne Westwood hats.
